The EIC Pathfinder Open provides €138 million to support 45 new disruptive ideas submitted to the March 2024 call

The European Innovation Council has chosen 45 new disruptive projects to receive €138 million in grants. The funding will be provided through the EIC Pathfinder Open:

  • 45 applications were chosen among 1110 evaluated submissions, leading to a success rate of roughly 4% (7% lower compared to the  2023 call). 
  • Winners spread across 25 countries, with the highest number coming from Italy, Spain and  Austria. 
  • Participants mostly come from higher education (46%) and research organisations (22%) and SMEs (22% of participants). 

Successful projects belong to a wide range of areas such as health (21 projects, 46%), artificial intelligence (4 projects, 9%), computing (8 projects, 17%), environment (5 projects, 11%), and energy (8 projects, 17%). 

It is worth noting that 90% of winning projects are led by RTOs while only 10% by companies (39 institutions and 4 private companies).

Participants from 25 countries are involved in the awarded projects, showing a strong international profile of consortia. The top 4 countries with regard to the number of awarded proposals are Italy (15%), Spain (11%),  Germany and France (6% each):
